UCSD SAS Agreement Information for 2003-2004

SAS is a data management, analysis and presentation package. SAS is licensed under an agreement between UCOP and SAS. UCSD is a participant in that contract. The contract term is 7/1/2003-6/30/2004.

See Ordering section below for instructions.

Costs:

ACS charges a fee of $20 on each SAS transaction. Doing multiple installations will save you money. All copies installed must comply with the restrictions on use and distribution (see Legal Details, below.)

Each "work unit" is $100 for the 2003-2004 year.

  • Single user computers are 1 work unit
  • Multiple user and server computers are 4 work units
  • Mainframe computers are 12 work units

Students:

ACS Software distribution does not distribute this software to students, but departments may do so. All copies installed MUST comply with the restrictions on use and distribution.

Installation and Renewal:

Software installation kits are available for checkout for up to two weeks at a time.

There is a SAS Technical Support Hot Fix Web site at:
http://www.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/hotfix.html
We suggest you visit the hotfixes page after installing or relicensing SAS.

There is a public mailing list at SAS that will email the availability of hotfixes as they come out. To subscribe, send mail to:
LISTSERV@VM.SAS.COM
with
subscribe tsnews-l anonymous
or

as the only text in the body of the message.

A key, called a setinit, must be applied each year. Use of an expired license is a violation of the license agreement. The setinit typically allows for a grace period after renewal. New installations can not be done after the setinit expiration date of July 1.

This software can be installed by ACS Desktop Support. There is no transaction fee if the software is installed on a normal (billed) support call. Contact ACS Desktop Support at campus extension 20047 or email desktop@ucsd.edu

Version 8.1 and 8.2 SAS software installation kits do not include the documentation.

Basic Version 8 documentation is on the SAS site for browsing. UCSD campus network SAS users can download a copy for their use from ftp://acsftp.ucsd.edu/SAS-Docs/. This is a large download of 39,000+ files and 555 MB, not suitable for modem download.
