Adobe Agreement
This Adobe agreement provides low cost access to Adobe software licenses and media. These are only available to UCSD departments for use on UCSD-owned computers.
Support is not included through this agreement. Media and manuals ordered through this agreement often takes 6-8 weeks to arrive. You may buy the first license at the bookstore to obtain media, manuals, and support and then buy additional licenses through this agreement.
As of May, 2005 you CANNOT use many of our Adobe "licenses" with media acquired through retail channels.
Certain license codes are ordered from the vendor with our next monthly or quarterly order. This may take quite some time. Some, but not all, Adobe products are affected by this.
Fonts, Clipart, Stock Photos, or other Adobe products not on the current price list are not available throught this agreement.
Payment must be made with IFIS index/recharge numbers.
We add a $20 transaction fee to each Adobe order.
See http://www.adobe.com/ for more information on Adobe products.
Concurrency
The following is an excerpt from http://www.adobe.com/education/pdf/concurrency_FAQ.pdf Please see that link for more information on concurrency.
- Often the number of users with access to an Adobe software product in a
networked environment is greater than the number of users actually using that
software at one time. Provided that the number of users using the software
at one time does not exceed the number of licenses the customer owns, the
customer is in compliance. This type of software licensing is commonly referred
to as concurrency.
- The customer should order a concurrent license for the maximum number of
machines that will use the software simultaneously.
- Example: An instructor has a school lab with 40 computers. The maximum number of students in a class is 25, so only 25 computers are in use at one time. The instructor may install Adobe Photoshop® software on all 40 desktops or enable them to access the software across the network, but only a 25-user concurrent license is needed.
See http://desktop.ucsd.edu for information on paid assistance downloading and/or installing Adobe products. The $20 transaction fee is waived for purchases installed by ACMS/Desktop Support.
