Apple MacOS
ACS sells low cost right-to-use licenses for Apple's Operating System to departmental contacts only; no individual sales. For the purposes of these licenses, a department is defined as an academic department, an administrative unit, an ORU, a program or project, etc., as listed in the current UCSD Telephone directory.
System 7.1 to 9.xx
System 7.1 to 9.22 (includes Open Transport) licenses are $14 each. Licenses for these will continue to be available for as long as needed/supported.Mac OS X
ACS has acquired a quantity of Mac OS X licenses. Purchase of the license alone is $59 each.Manuals and Media
You can use any CDs with your license, or you can purchase CDs from ACS for $22.
Manuals are not available from this program at this time.ACS/Software Distribution has media for these products that may be checked out for two weeks.
The media for the Classic OS may be copied. The media for MacOS X may NOT be duplicated. Copies of the Mac OS X media may be purchased. We will try to keep a small quantity on hand.
License Certificates
ACS provides a receipt for the number of systems licensing software under this program, for use in the event of an audit.Individual Sales
The license agreement does not allow for distribution to individuals. ACS only distributes this software to departments. Departments may not distribute to individuals, though licenses may be purchased for institutionally-owned machines used by faculty or staff at home, or for institutionally-owned laptops used by faculty or staff.Support
ACS provides very limited technical support on these products. Departments with new systems or a shrinkwrapped copy of the software can contact Apple directly. ACS Microcomputer Support
