ESRI GIS Products

ArcGIS is an integrated collection of GIS (geographic information systems) software products, used to author, analyze, map, manage, share, and publish geographic information.

ESRI GIS tools can be used on the desktop, on a server, and on portable devices.

ArcGIS Desktop is composed of:
  • ArcReader
  • ArcView
  • ArcEditor
  • ArcInfo
  • ArcGIS Desktop Extensions
The annual cost is $500 initial, $250 per additional license, $1000 for 3-10 copies in a single lab.

This is a network license so you must be on the UCSD network to use the full desktop suite.

For portable use, and in less demanding environments, the following components are available separately:
  • ArcView alone $200 initial, $50 per additional license, annually
  • ArcEditor alone $200 initial, $50 per additional license, annually
These are NOT network licenses, but still have annual license fees.
ESRI Server GIS is composed of:
  • ArcIMS
  • ArcGIS Server
  • ArcSDE
  • GIS Portal Toolkit

ArcIMS licenses cost an annual $500 initial, $250 per additional license.
ArcSDE licenses cost $300 initial, $100 per additional license.

This is a network license so you must be on the UCSD network.

ESRI Mobile GIS is composed of:
  • ArcPad
  • Mobile ArcGIS Desktop Systems
ArcPad license costs per license are $100 initial, $50 per additional license

Purchase can only be made through campus IFIS Index numbers. There is a $20 transaction fee on each transaction. Media may not be duplicated and is loaned for up to one week. These costs are for any new users, and uses above the initial 15 users of Arc/Info workstation that the prior agreement covered.

Media and Manuals

Media can be borrowed for up to a week for installation. We do not make up CD's, or deliver. The manuals are available on CD in the software installation kits. ACS/Software Distribution charges a $20 fee for each ESRI kit checkout.
