UCSD Parallels agreement
This agreement provides low cost access to Parallels software licenses and downloads as well as maintenance of existing licenses. These are only available to UCSD departments for use on UCSD-owned computers. ACS only distributes this software to departments, not to individuals. Faculty & Staff at UCSD can use this license. No home or student use.
Products available
- Parallels Desktop for Mac is a leading virtualization solution for the Mac, enabling Apple users to run Windows in conjunction with Mac OS X without rebooting. This software provides support for running Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Sun Solaris, OS/2 Warp, MS DOS, and more.
- Parallels workstation for Windows & Linux is a powerful and easy to use desktop virtualization solution that empowers PC users with the ability to create completely networked, fully portable and entirely independent virtual machines on a single physical machine.
- Parallels Compressor is a robust virtual hard disk management tool that helps users to significantly reduce the virtual disk size of any Windows 2000, 2003 or XP virtual machine.
Initial licenses and annual support contracts (Maintenance) are available. Orders are done in bulk monthly. Support is required for first year and licenses purchased outside this agreement can be put under maintenance with serial number being provided with order. Support is only in full month increments. These prices represent approximately a 48% savings to the university. Costs may go up after the first year. Initial quantity of licenses all expire 5/17/08.

Desktop for Mac: $30.59, maintenance: $6.11
Desktop for Win/Linux: $22.70, maintenance:$4.54
Compressor workstation: $23.90, maintenance: $4.78
Compressor server: $86.03, maintenance: $17.21
Payment must be made with IFIS index/recharge numbers. Tax will be added to the above license costs. We add a $20 transaction fee to each Parallels order, so quantity purchases will save you money. Transaction fees are per software vendor.
LICENSE CERTIFICATES
ACS provides a receipt for each system licensing software under this program. This certificate will legitimize the software in the event of an audit. Serial numbers needed, and software download information will be emailed to you.
