Distribution

Mail servers are distributed from \swdistsophos (Password access paid for by NGN) once we have the mail server name and number of mailboxes.

Large departments that are planning on using push updates can set up a departmental copy of the sophos enterprise manager. It is distributed from \swdistsophos2. We provide the feed to the UCSD local copies of enterprise manager from http://sophosem.ucsd.edu with another set of passwords. We need to know about each departmental enterprise manager installation in case configuration changes. Sophos Enterprise Manager supports admin account push to windows 95/98/ME and NT/2000/XP/Vista/2003 clients. UNIX, Windows, Linux, Netware, VMS, Macos X clients can pull their updates from the same sophos enterprise manager.

There is ONE master sophos enterprise admin account for UCSD so the campus copies of sophosem need to come to the sophosem server to get their local install updates if they implement this model of updates.

Individual copies of sophos for Windows, Macos X and Linux on intel can be updated automatically using the posted directions found on the download page accessed via the form at http://software.ucsd.edu/sophos

Manuals

Printed manuals are not available from this program. A PDF file version of most of the manuals is available over the network. This electronic manual may not be re distributed.

Support

ACS can only provide very limited technical support on these products. Primarily support will relate to the actual installation of the product.

Individual Sales

ACS only distributes the management and PureMessage software to departments, not to individuals. Individual students faculty & staff are licensed by departments for their at UCSD desktop use, and are allowed to install sophos at their home to protect their home computer while they are currently with UCSD.
